Palazzo Visconti, built in the XVII century in the heart of Milan, owes its creation to Giuseppe Bolagnos, a noble family of Spanish origin. After the Bolagnos there followed a succession of different owners, until in the second half of XIX century, the stately home was purchased by the Visconti di Grazzano, one of the city’s historical families. With Giuseppe Visconti, a lover of art and knowledge, the property acquired its current architectural and artistic appearance.

Over the centuries some illustrious and famous personalities have visited Palazzo Visconti, such as W. A. Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Alessandro Manzoni and more recently Christian Barnard.

These famous personalities, together with the different owners have shaped the history of this building, which has witnessed all manner of events taking place within it from representations of artistic, cultural, scientific and musical events, to the organization of Carbonari meetings, right up to high society events such as the mythical balls organized by the Visconti di Modrone family, at the beginning of the twentieth century.
